We are very excited about our production this year. We first staged Sweeney Todd in 2009, with one of our strongest ever casts, and it swiftly became our favourite production of all.
In the wake of Les Miserables last summer, so grand and moving, we could only choose Sweeney Todd to follow, and, hopefully, match it. The show is a masterpiece in Sondheim’s canon and a fascinating depiction of our city, capturing the pain of poverty and injustice in soaring melodies, and, in the lyrics, the London foil of brilliant wit and black humour. We have great hopes for this production matching our last, such is the depth and strength in this year’s cast and chorus, and hope you will enjoy watching as much as we will enjoy staging the show.
